Hoglet collecting day is super exciting and often coupled with worry and travel, to make things slightly smoother below is a guide of the normal process. Aim to get to us during the day, the earlier the better to give yourself the rest of the day for bonding and settling your hoglet in, this will ensure your hedgie is quite tired towards the evening/active hours and able to settle easier. Bring with you a box or suitable safe carrier to transport your hoglet in, if the weather's colder you need to think about packing a snugglesafe or a covered hot water bottle. When you arrive please feel free to take your time, ask me questions and spend some time handling your hoglet and processing the care guide if you wish, if not, I am only at the end of a text/email. Once you're home spend some time handling your hoglet if he's not too stressed, then place him in his warm viv/zoozone and let him explore. Occasionally through the day/evening offer him some live food and allow him to come to you. I highly recommend positive reinforcement and for the first few weeks I suggest offering your hoglet something nice (meal worm, wax worm, chicken ect) for being handled and do this as much as you can and just spend time holding your hoglet and carrying him around in a bonding bag/blanket ect. A pro tip is to wear a T-shirt in bed or sleep with a small blanket for a week and then place this in your hogs sleeping area, after a couple of days of him being home, along with his bed, this allows him to get used to your scent. You will be provided with a small blanket that smells like their nest too. Both of these will help to build familiarity and provide comfort.
